Southern Hydro Vac, Inc.  (SHVI) offers excellent employment opportunities for stable career minded individuals.  SHVI prides itself in hiring and keeping the best of the best.  We are looking for self-motivated people with a positive work attitude.  SHVI is a service oriented company, and as such, you would be interacting with clients and their management personnel.  All of the work is in outdoor conditions and subject to inclement weather from time to time.  In order to accommodate our clients, you can expect flexible work schedules as well as some out of town assignments.  The ability to communicate verbally, complete work orders and time sheets would be very beneficial.

We have an extensive Training and Safety Program and orientation.  Safety is our number one concern, and we provide you with the safest working conditions and environment possible.  You will be provided with the best Person Protection Equipment.  We have regular safety refresher courses, and annually update the company’s safety manual to reflect changes and modifications.

Southern Hydro Vac, Inc. owns, operates and maintains the newest and finest hydro vac trucks and equipment.  We have an internal service department and staff of three service men.  Our shop facility has four open bays and is equipped to perform all minor and major repairs.  We keep a full inventory of tires, parts, filters, etc.  So if your truck or vac system needs attention, there is no waiting for 3rd party repairs.  Daily equipment inspections guarantees prompt repairs so the trucks will be available for you.

Advancement

If you have no experience, we can train you.  If you are experienced or seasoned in Hydro excavation, we have a position for you.  Initial placement opportunities and levels for advancement are as follows:

  • Hydro Vac Crew Member – initial placement and evaluation
  • Hydro Vac Apprentice – training for preparation to be Crew Leader
  • Hydro Vac Crew Leader – Level I
  • Hydro Vac Crew Leader – Level II
  • Hydro Vac Crew Leader/Trainer – Senior
  • Backfill Crew Member
  • Backfill Crew Leader

POSITION: Hydro Vac Crew Leader – Level 1

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Hydro Vac Crew Leader is the “face” of Southern Hydro Vac. This position has more personal contact with our customers than any other job within the company. Dedication, punctuality, resourcefulness, customer friendliness and a positive attitude are all attributes essential to making a person successful in this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 9 months of Hydro Vac or Flushing experience and selection by supervisors
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift 85 lbs
  • Willing to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Willing to work in confined spaces
  • Must have dependable transportation and be willing to travel
  • Willing to work non-traditional hours and occasional weekends
  • CDL License, Class B with Tanker Endorsement

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CDL License, Class A
  • Grading, Pipeline, and/or Boring experience
  • Underground Utilities Construction experience
  • Heavy equipment experience
  • HAZWOPER training

POSITION: Crew Member – Entry Level

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Crew Member is the entry level position for Southern Hydro Vac. This person will spend time working on a Hydro Vac crew as well as Remote or Backfill crew. On-the-job training is the purpose of this position. Attitude, work ethic, initiative and the ability to learn will all be observed as the Crew Member works out his trial work period.

Job Requirements

  • You must be 21 years of age or older
  • Have a CDL license in good standing, 3-5 yrs experience preferred
  • Have a current DOT medical card
  • Be able to drive a standard shift transmission
  • Have good mechanical aptitude

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen test
  • Be able to work and function as part of a team
